Complete,
Competent Care
Please browse through the comprehensive list of services we provide. We hope
this information helps you become comfortable with the kinds of procedures
we offer and allows you to better understand your own dental health.
Preventive
Services
Comprehensive preventive care includes far more than cleanings, hygiene
instruction and check-ups. During your visit, we perform a thorough assessment
of all aspects of your dental health. We check for decay and evaluate your
gums for gingivitis and periodontitis. We watch for problems with your
bite, including warning signs of clenching, grinding, or TMJ disorders.
We will also screen your lips and the soft tissues of your mouth for oral
cancer. Most importantly, each doctor spends time one-on-one with each
patient, discussing your specific situation and explaining the strategy
that will help you obtain the most optimum oral health.

Restorative
and Esthetic Services
Aging, accidents, undiagnosed gum disease, and daily wear and tear can
lead to cracked, broken, discolored, loose, or missing teeth. These problems
should be treated by a dentist so that the damage does not continue. We
begin our restorative process by gathering as much information as possible
about you and your dental health. This is followed by careful consideration
of any dental problem prior to the development of an effective, long-term
strategy for restoration. Our approach also includes practicing pro-active,
conservative dentistry: catching and repairing problems while they're small
and choosing materials and methods designed to conserve as much natural
tooth structure as possible.
We always aim to provide esthetic, quality care. You should feel comfortable
knowing that all our services are geared to provide an attractive, comfortable,
and functional result.
We also want you to understand that although we provide comprehensive services,
we welcome a team approach to your treatment. We maintain relationships
with excellent doctors in every dental specialty. As you read the lists
below, you will find that referrals to specialists are some of the valuable
services we provide. Our partnership with our dental colleagues is one
way we are able to provide superior care for our patients.

Periodontal
Services
Few diseases are as stealthy and serious as periodontal (gum) disease.
It can be relatively painless and asymptomatic at first. Gum inflammation
(gingivitis) is an early indicator of a problem. Untreated, this can progress
to periodontal disease. This can mean pockets between teeth and gums, loose
teeth, bone loss, and eventually tooth loss. Extensive dental work is often
necessary to restore oral health. For this reason, we're meticulous in
our examinations, looking for even the very earliest signs of periodontal
problems. If there are areas of concern, we offer you the latest in in-office
therapy techniques. Finally, we will not hesitate to refer you to a periodontist
when necessary.

Oral
Surgery
Extractions are sometimes necessary to remove badly damaged teeth. We accomplish
some extractions in our office. When the situation is more complex, we
can provide you with a referral to an oral surgeon for that part of your
treatment. Missing teeth can often be replaced with dental implants, which
are restored in our office but typically placed by an oral surgeon or periodontist.
Our role is to be the "quarterback" of the implant placement. We provide
the surgeon with a precise surgical guide fabricated by Dr. Nelson so that
the implant is placed in the correct location at the correct depth for
optimal esthetics and function of your dental implant.

Technology
Today's technological advances for dentistry are very exciting! We take
seriously our responsibility to study new products and evaluate their
effectiveness. Our Ultrasonic Cleaner uses water and sonic vibrations
to clean teeth. This is used in combination with hand scaling and allows
us to complete your cleaning more efficiently and with less scraping.
We also have baking soda prophy jet cleaning to assit us in removing
hard to reach stains on your teeth. If there is a need for a filling,
we can now use minimally invasive procedures such as air abrasion,
preserving as much natural tooth structure as possible. When needed,
we also use magnification loupes to help us observe, and properly treat
even the smallest problems we fing in your mouth. We also have several
intraoral cameras to give you a "real time" look at your teeth and
gums so you can observe with us any areas of concern. We routinely
take 35mm digital pictures to assist you in understanding the nature
and scope of your dental problems.
